Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recommend that ”anyone who uses a locator should receive thorough training on its uses and limitations”. So if you are using cable avoidance equipment (CAT, Genny, Signal Transmitter, Sonde, Trace Rod, etc.) then you should be trained on how to use the equipment.

 

Course Content

  • Legislation and HSG 47
  • Basic principles of location and avoidance of underground services
  • Hazard identification and the risks associated with them
  • Reading and interpreting site plans
  • Practical use of equipment

The aim of the course is to provide both operatives and supervisors with the skills and knowledge to carry out cable avoidance work.

Who Should Attend?

This programme is designed for operatives and supervisors who have to locate underground apparatus for work on the roadways and highways.
